Learning How to Ski

Timberline ski school has a large and highly regarded staff of experienced instructors in alpine and all styles of skiing. Instruction is available for all levels, in group and private settings. Equipment rentals are available for all these styles:

  • Alpine
  • Snowboard
  • Telemark
  • Backcountry
  • NASTAR
  • Race Camps & Clinics

  • CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS - Timbers Adventure (4-7) and Mountain Safari (8-12)
  • Group or private instruction ages 8 and up

Alpine Skiing

This is the skiing technique most often seen at lift-serviced resorts.

Nordic Skiing

Nordic Skiing encompasses a variety of techniques originally developed for skiing cross country or in natural, ungroomed conditions. Timberline Ski School's Nordic instructors teach:

  • Telemark
  • Cross country
  • Backcountry

Snowboarding

Get down the mountain with your own unique style!

Many snowboarders are already competent skiers, but you can start to enjoy Timberline's snowboard lessons around the age of 10 or 12 years. Timberline offers snowboard instruction for all ages and abilities.

Racing Programs

The Timberline race department produces Alpine, Telemark, Backcountry, and Snowboarding racing events throughout the season. Several are open to the public, and spectators are always welcome! Please check at the Ski School desk for a complete schedule. [schedule to come online]

Racing Clinics or lessons and special races are scheduled on request.

NASTAR

NASTAR stands for NAtional STAndard Race and is the largest public grassroots ski racing program in the world! NASTAR offers skiers of all ages the opportunity to taste the thrill of racing. Racers can win Platinum, Gold, Silver, or Bronze medals, and may qualify for state or national rankings!
